Chronicles of Neverwinter

Chronicles of Neverwinter

Chronicles of Neverwinter.
Book 1: Phandalin.

Chapter 1: The Forest.

Life Isn’t very basic for Me. I am one of Neverwinter’s forest farmers. I woke up early as usual and got straight to work. As I was working, I could feel the cool breeze against my face as I entered the forest. I checked the trees to see if they had produced any fresh sap that was ready to be harvested, I checked on the saplings which as usual looked crooked and stubby. When I went to the apple tree, I saw that some of the apples had fallen and were in the perfect condition while the rest that had fallen were the fox’s fruit now.
I knocked against the luscious evergreen tree to see if the neighbors were home; which they were. They greeted rowan with cheerful chips of the morning. It was good to know that they were happy. Even though winter never comes here the squirrels always gather nuts around this time of year. It must be in their DNA. Afterall, they were forced out of their home in Phandalin due to logging so they had to come here. And everyone knows that winter in Phandalin is extremely cold. So, whenever this time comes around every year, they do my grunt work by finding the rare nuts that are very useful and sell at a high price. I just try to sneak around them while they’re out looking for them without trying to scare them so that when they are away, I can find where they got their rare and exotic nuts and sell them.
Since I live alone things go smooth around here and it’s very peaceful. But… there are some times of the day when it isn’t very quiet. Most of it is caused by me. Let’s just say I have a little hobby of mine that I really enjoy…

Chapter 2: The Skill.

You could just tell it was mid-day in Neverwinter even though the glorious grey clouds were covering up the eastern star. I wish someone would make an invention that based on the sun’s position it would tell us what point in time we are and it would never be wrong.
I went back to my cabin and I decided to go eat some lunch. I decided to eat a peanut-butter, raspberry, and honey sandwich, all the natural good stuff. After that I thought that I should probably work on my sap that I collected a couple days ago before it dries up. First, I mixed it, I cleaned it up and did all that good stuff. Now it was ready to be sold along with the other berries that I collected.
Now here comes the noisy part that I was talking about earlier. Did you honestly think that all I did all day was work?!? NEVER I have SO many hobbies that I love. I like to do crafts, hatchets, hunting, fishing, fencing and archery! Oh yeah, those last 2 I love so much because I am Really good at them. I am really good at them because I practice every day which leads me to the very loud part of my day. First, I like to do archery. So, I start not-so very far away from a target and I shoot a bullseye. Then I take a step back. I do that until I don’t shoot a bullseye. I repeat that process 5 times. When I did it today, I beat my personal record of 60 yards and it is now 73 yards! Next, I work on my fencing. I would… off in the distance I could hear a horn blaring. “The battle horn!” it’s not every day you hear the battle horn. What’s going on this time?

Chapter 3: The Battle Call.

So, in case you have been living under a hole all of your life the battle bell basically means “ALL PEOPLE THAT ARE ELIGIBLE! PLEASE GRAB ANY ARMOR, WEAPONS, SPELLS, ETC, THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO USE AND MEET AT THE CASTLE GATES! WE ARE GOING TO WAR!” So, I grabbed my scale mail armor, my longbow, my great sword and my… never mind. I probably should save that for when I need it… I headed down for the castle gates all prepped and ready to go and boy did everyone look sharp! There were rare potions, weird wizards, demons, warlocks, sorcerers there. Just a bunch of crazy stuff. Does that guy have a ring of shooting stars! That’s pretty rare. But who knows? Lots of people are adventure’s down here in Neverwinter. Let’s listen up, the general is about to give us some instructions. “Hello my fellow Neverwinter citizens! Today Phandalin has made a terrible mistake! They decided to kidnap the princess Hellen! They also left this attached to her horse which they killed. It reads “You want your daughter back give… “The rest of the note was not very important. The important thing is that it sounds like they want to go to war! We move out in 10 minutes. NOW WHO’S WITH ME!!!” “YYYEEEAAAHHH!!” The enormous crowd erupted with rage and other noises that I’m guessing means rage but I don’t know draconic. That speech sounded a bit… ominous… If he has anything to hide, he’ll probably end up revealing it when we are done. Anyways we have some final thing to do before we move out. First, we need to get some more arrows because A. I don’t what to be on the front line. B. it would be most effective. Also, just because I’m low and I don’t want to run low on arrows while I’m on the battlefield. Next, we had to get some food because it’s going to be a long trek to Phandalin. And then I decided to sharpen my arrows until we leave. “EVERYBODY READY?” “YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!!” “THEN FOLLOW ME! FOR WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS, WE WILL NEVER BE CALLED AS COWARDS! OUR NAME… WILL STRIKE FEAR DIRECTLY INTO OUR ENEMIES HEARTS! NOW ONWARD!!!” I don’t think this will end well.

Chapter 4: The Journey (1/2)

When we first set out you could really feel the wind against your face but that didn’t stop anyone from getting to their newly-renowned arch-nemesis that they would love to stab a great sword down their back. But let’s try to keep this book kid friendly. Eventually we could see the sun starting to set in the distance and we decided to put up camp. We all sang songs, the bards new lots of great ones, we told jokes, played cards and tried to have the best day we could before we ended up having to trek about 200 miles over the course of 3 days. I’m pretty sure everyone slept like a melting rock. I would say we slept like a rock because everyone was probably dead tired but I’m pretty sure everyone woke up once because A. they probably woke up because the terrain was so wonky B. they had nightmares. C. they couldn’t sleep to the constant sound of nothing. I mean back and Neverwinter there always was something going on to put you to sleep. But this? This just sounded like you were being watched, which we probably were. The next morning; wait, where is the guy with the ring of shooting stars? Then the general Yelled as loud as he possibly could: “AMBUSH!!!” And within seconds we were surrounded by thousands of skeletons and zombies

Chapter 4: The Journey (2/2)

They had surrounded us. It was early morning. The air was crisp and you could see the frost on the grass and the rocks. Some random dude shouted “General! What is the plan?” But the general didn’t respond. Suddenly war erupted on the north side of the circle. It was the general! He had used his invisibility ring to sneak by and now he’s killing all of them. “MAKE A HOLE ON THE NORTH SIDE! WE DON’T HAVE TO KILL THEM ALL WE JUST HAVE TO ESCAPE!” Suddenly all the zombies shifted towards the North side. Dang it. I forgot that zombies can understand certain languages but they can’t speak it. War erupted. Spells were cast, swords were swung and bows were drawn. There was the cracking of bones, decomposed organs flying everywhere I had never seen anything like it. “WE BROKE THROUGH! GO! GO! GO!!!” Sorry captain big mouth but please try not to reveal all of our plans to the zombies, would ya? “FIRE!” What was that? When all of a sudden, a volley of arrows was shot from our back side, killing all the zombies and skeletons and some of our troops. Oh no. I only know of a group of people that had archery skills that are just below my skills, the army of Phandalin.

Chapter 5: The War.

“Hello there, allies! I see you need assistance! We would like to join you on your quest! I brought my finest archers along with us!” The general whispered something to some sorcerer. “Yes. Yes! Thank You my allies we would love the support, next try not to kill our troops but we forgive you. Now come! Join us!” WHAT ARE YOU DOING GENERAL! I THOUGHT THEY…
Then I heard a voice inside my head “just play along” Telepathy. Now he understood. Phandalin’s General walked over to ours. Within 50 seconds, 20 people were stabbing him or doing something to him. “WHY… ARE… YOU… DOING THIS?!?!?!??!” “because you kidnapped our princes!” “I did not do such a thing, but he did…” He pointed toward the mountain, then he dropped dead. Then out of nowhere, the volcano erupted, and out came, no way! The ancient red dragon.

Chapter 6: The Dragon.

“HE KILLED OUR LEADER!!! CCCCHHHAAARRRGGGGEEE!” “STOP!” one of their own called. “We have a much larger situation at play. They killed our leader because he thought he had kidnapped their princess. I don’t think any more of us want to die, so I say we kill the dragon and get out of here, together, just like the good old days.” “NEVER NEVER…” “I AM YOUR CAPTAIN NOW!!!! And you will follow my command, now, let’s try this again ATTACK THAT DRAGON. “RRRRROOOOOAAAAR!!!” It was the loudest thing ever, including the volcano, it was a mess. I ran over to their general. “General! Can you teleport me back to my house? If so… DO IT NOW I can stop this battle with a magic item I left at my house!” “Then what are we waiting for??? LET’S DO THIS!” Within seconds we were at my cabin. I grabbed my most prized possession, my ring of wishes. “Here, take this as a gift of my gratitude” I handed over 20 arrows. “Now let’s get out of here!” We were back at the battle field, oh no. The dragon had either killed everyone or we had retreated. I walked over to the dragon, rubbed the ring and proclaimed “KILL THIS DRAGON AND PRESENT THE PRINCES RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. ALSO MAKE THE LAVA STOP ERUPTING!” Within seconds the dragon was dead, the lava had returned to the volcano and the princes was, where? Oh, she was 50 yd up and she was falling for her life. Oops. I caught her bridal style and walked over to the volcano. Thank you, my good sir, and in return, when you return to the palace you shall become rich and have whatever thou desires. You will be a hero” “you know that sounds good and all but there is just one problem.” “Now what is that?” “I… am chaotic evil” Then I chucked her into the volcano.
